About GIS Labs

We build the GIS tools that should exist but don't

Our Mission

To solve critical, long-standing GIS problems that major vendors ignore and open-source communities struggle with. We focus on enterprise-grade solutions that organizations actually need, not what's easy to build.

What We Believe

  • Professional tools should work flawlessly, not "mostly work"
  • Compliance and reliability aren't optional for enterprises
  • Open-source is great, but enterprises need support and SLAs
  • Regional needs (like RTL languages) deserve first-class solutions

What Sets Us Apart

  • We solve problems others consider "too hard" or "too niche"
  • Enterprise-first approach from day one
  • Built by GIS professionals who've felt the pain
  • Transparent pricing, no hidden costs

Our Values

Problem-Driven

We don't build features. We solve painful, expensive problems that organizations face every day.

Community-Minded

We contribute to open-source, share knowledge, and give back to the GIS community that needs it.

Move Fast

Deadlines are real. ArcMap retires March 2026. Configurable Apps sunset Q1 2026. We deliver on time.

Global Impact

From UAE to Egypt, from government to utilities, our tools serve diverse organizations worldwide.

Our Story

GIS Labs was born from frustration. Real frustration experienced by GIS professionals trying to make Arabic maps work in OpenLayers, trying to migrate hundreds of MXD files before deadlines, trying to find solutions that simply didn't exist.

We tested the free RTL plugins that everyone recommends. They're broken. Characters disappear. Custom fonts don't work. Curved street labels are unreadable. We reached out to vendors. No one was interested in "niche" problems.

So we built what should have existed. Professional-grade tools with enterprise support, SLAs, and the reliability that organizations demand. Tools that actually work.

We started with RTL rendering because it was the most painful problem we personally experienced. Then we saw ArcMap's retirement approaching with no good migration path. Then Configurable Apps sunset with zero migration tools.

These aren't nice-to-have features. These are mission-critical needs. Government agencies can't have broken Arabic maps. Utilities can't miss migration deadlines. Organizations can't have their public applications break.

That's why GIS Labs exists. We're the "missing utilities layer" for GIS platforms - solving problems that are too hard, too niche, or too boring for big vendors, but absolutely critical for the organizations that need them.
